Barefoot in mud

Image
by sharleen wl a couple of days ago there was a discussion on the reddit barefoot sub about being barefoot in mud. the op wrote: "i just love it when the mud oozes up between the toes and covers my feet." i love being barefoot in mud too but i don't get to do it very often. however this reminds me of my experience when i was a kid around 12 years old. our family was on vacation and staying at a mountain resort. one morning as i woke up i stepped out the back door. the morning was warm and the air smelled faintly of tropical flowers. i stood on the edge of the meadow behind the resort, my bare toes sinking into the soft grass. "i'm glad i don't have anything on my feet," i thought to myself with a grin, brushing my hair out of my face. so i set off toward the far end of the meadow where a trail dipped down into the woods. the ground was cool and damp from last night's rain and before long my feet were speckled with mud. the deeper i went the messier i...

Fun barefoot weekend with family

by sharleen wl so last weekend my family decided to get together at my parents' house. i was excited cuz although we live on the same island, i very seldom get to see everyone. i got off work a little early on friday like around 4 pm. as i got to my apartment i immediately changed into my favorite attire - a tank top and ripped jeans shorts and got ready to leave. there wasn't much to pack as i would be wearing the same clothes the whole weekend. so all i brought were toiletries, my phone and charger, and some stuff for my parents and siblings which i put in my backpack. i didn't even bring any footwear since i was going to be barefoot the entire time. dad had offered to pick me up but i decided to take the bus instead. it's actually more fun. seriously. i love riding the bus barefoot. i put on my new pair of nerdy glasses (ya, i started wearing glasses like a month ago) and walked to the bus stop. a nerdy look and bare feet are the bomb, lol. while i was sitting at the...

Dirty mouth, dirty feet, wild child

Image
by sharleen wl Hey, hows it going barefoot guys and gals? I know its been along time since I posted. School kinda got in the way. Then I got really sick over the summer while my family was on vacation overseas. Bummer. But I'm feeling much better now, and excited that October my favorite month is here. You may remember that I, unlike my big sister Tania, didn't really like having dirty feet. I would like wash my feet every day before entering the house or going to bed. That was when I was living with my parents, and I believe I was greatly influenced by my mom who was (and still is) a clean freak. Even before I became a barefooter she would tell me to wash my feet at bed time even when they weren't dirty. She was opposed to us going barefoot in the beginning but finally relented since many people do it here, but she wanted us to have our feet clean inside the house. Tania rebelled and didn't listen, but I at the time thought it was a good idea to have clean feet. ...

A Barefoot Nightmare - Those With No Shoes Please...

Image
by Sharleen W.L. I just finish eating lunch in the cafetaria with 2 of my friends, and were heading to our first afternoon class. I'm barefoot as usual. One of my friends is wearing shoes and the other flip flops. It really feels great walking around campus in bare feet. As we get to the building, both my friends head towards the restroom and tell me they'll see me in class since I don't need to go. So I climb up the stairs to the 3rd floor where our classroom is. The floors in that building are really grimy but it feels good on my bare soles. There are already quite a few students in the classroom. This is a discussion class, so there are tables with a few chairs around them. I spot a table with no one sitting at it yet which is perfect as my friends and I can sit together. There's a nerdy looking guy sitting at the next table busy with his phone. As I sit down he looks at my bare feet but doesn't say anything. He then makes a call and starts talking on...

Scared Silly - a Barefoot Halloween Story

Image
by Sharleen W.L. It was Friday evening about a week before Halloween back when I was in elementary school. As soon as I got home from school I took off my shoes and changed clothes as Kevin and I decided to walk around the neighborhood and look at some of the interesting Halloween decorations. I was, of course, barefoot while Kevin was wearing his favorite Crocs . We stopped at a house and admired the fancy decorations. An old lady walked out the driveway and said to us, "Hey, you kids wanna come in and take a closer look at these little ghosts and goblins?" I was like, "Sure!" and we walked into her front yard. "Be careful though, there are some slippery spots as I just watered the lawn. Especially you don't have any shoes on!" she said pointing at me. I was like, "Ok!" I really enjoyed stepping on the wet ground with my bare soles. Nice and cool. Something that Kevin missed out on. The nice lady showed us some of the animated spoo...

Barefoot Little Angel at the Hospital

Image
by Sharleen W.L. One morning in early summer when I was in elementary school I went to accompany mom to the hospital for treatment of her arthritis. I decided to go barefoot and she didn't object. The treatment was to be done in the outpatient clinic, and when we arrived the nurse was all ready for her. She asked mom how she was feeling. Barefoot angel on duty "Well, I was a little nervous because of the potential side effects, but now I'm ok since many people are praying for me," replied mom. "Oh, you'll be just fine! And it's great that people are praying for you!" said the nurse. Then unexpectedly mom said this: "besides...I've got my little angel here with me!" while pointing to me. You see, mom is pretty strict and can even be a bit mean at times. She scolded me a lot, and sometimes even spanked me when I was a kid, but she actually loves me very much. "Oh, how wonderful that you have a little angel!" said...

You Can Go Barefoot!

Image
How to bribe a barefoot girl by Sharleen W.L. If you have read the story titled "Barefoot Sisters" you would know that in the beginning mom was so opposed to her kids going barefoot in public places, but she later gave in and allowed Tania and me to do so. The following took place in my early days of barefooting in public when I was in elementary school. I was the only barefooter in the grocery store that night It was 9:30pm on a Wednesday when dad was away on business. My oldest brother and sisters were still busy doing homework and studying, and my little brother was already in bed. I just got done with all my homework. I had karate class earlier in the evening, and so I took a shower when I got home. Btw, I got punished in class with doing lots of push-ups (I was joking around with another kid and wasn't paying attention to the instructor), so now I was a bit tired and sleepy. I was planning to go to bed a little earlier but wanted to kinda unwind first. So I ...

Self Cleaning Feet

Image
Hi, this is Tania (not Sharleen). Yeah, she's been writing the last several posts here and you probably thought that little brat had taken over, huh? Just kidding! I love my little sis. But yeah, I've been kind of MIA (missing in action) because of school and everything else that keep me busy. But I'm still happily barefoot all the time, and my feet are really dirty. :) Yeah, in fact that's what I'm writing about today. As I have previously said, I like to keep my feet dirty as a reminder and to show others that I'm an avid barefooter. Up until high school I had to wear shoes to school, so I couldn't keep my feet dirty all the time. Now that I'm in college I no longer have to wear shoes. If you read my previous posts you probably remember that I was in yoga class twice a week, and we were required to have clean feet in class, so I would wear flip flops on those days. Well, I'm no longer in that class. It's a long story, but I basically got ki...

Barefoot and Pregnant?

Image
When a barefoot girl got sick by Sharleen W.L. Barefoot and pregnant 11:30pm Sunday night - I just get home after a fun night out with friends. I'm barefoot as usual and my feet are pretty dirty but I'm really sleepy and tired, so I don't bother washing them before entering the house. I go straight to my bedroom upstairs, quickly brush my teeth, take everything off, and jump into bed and hug my Emo (teddy bear) tight. Yes, this is one of those instances Tania mentioned in one of her posts.* I'm awaken around 3am with a crampy tummy ache. At first I thought it was just gas and tried to continue sleeping. But the pain gets worse and now I'm also really queasy. I can't hold it anymore, so I run to the bathroom and throw up. Cold sweat runs down my neck. I'm kinda scared as this has never happened before. The last time I threw up was when I was 7 and got car-sick. I need to let my parents know, but I'm too weak to go down to the master bedroom. S...

Clean Vs Dirty Bare Feet

Image
by Tania WL If you have ever gone barefoot outdoors for any length of time, you know that getting your feet dirty is inevitable. Habitual barefooters can basically be classified into 2 groups: those who like having their feet dirty, and those who simply enjoy the freedom and the wonderful sensation of walking on different surfaces that going barefoot offers, but don't care for dirty feet. I belong to the former while my little sister Sharleen (a.k.a. Lynn), the latter. Getting your feet dirty is fun. To take it a step further, those who like dirty feet, especially guys, think they are attractive, and they get "excited" looking at them if you know what I mean (I have to be careful with my choice of words here in order to keep this blog family-friendly, lol). While I'm not one of them, I have to admit sometimes it's fun knowing that some guys have a time of their lives staring at my dirty soles. Well, I won't go much more into it as that's not what thi...

Barefoot in Germany

a barefooter from germany wrote the following in my guestbook: I'm a barefooter from germany and try to live without shoes at least half of the year. Usually I start in april and walk on bare soles till end of september. At work I have to wear shoes, but flip flops are ok. The rest of the time I'm barefoot without any break in this six months. I prefer to go barefoot in the city and love to harden my soles by walking on rough surfaces like asphalt or gravel. The dirtier a street, the better for walking barefoot. So usually my soles are grey and sometimes black. I enjoy very much to be barefoot in public, particularly when all the other people are wearing shoes. It's great to show them my bare, dirty feet. pretty cool huh? again it shows that there are people who love going barefoot in many different countries. are you from germany? is it common to see barefooters there? please share your experiences going barefoot even if you're not from germany :)
