aloha everyone! this is sharleen with a little update. how's it going? things are improving here in hawaii and i hope its the same where you are. just hang in there, everything will get better. i'm now working 2 regular jobs - at the souvenir shop and the restaurant. the souvenir shop cut their hours, so i work there during the day, and at the restaurant in the evening. but since people are now eating inside again, they no longer allow me to work barefoot. oh well! it was nice while it lasted, and hey, it could be alot worse, so i'm not complaining. oh, and i still work at the tanaka's on weekends too (barefoot). so yeah, they all keep me busy. i'll post a more detailed update soon, but now i'd like to tell you about a new horror story that i just posted to my story blog. its based on an actual experience when i was a college student going barefoot to school and everything. you see, because i love going barefoot, i've met quite a number of guys with foot fet...

Working a barefoot job, spooky walk home

Image
A barefoot girl story about working barefoot and a spooky walk home by sharleen wl Tania graduated at the end of my freshman year in college (she's 3 years older than me), and immediately got a job downtown. Unfortunately she can't work barefoot which cuts down on her barefooting time. But she takes off her shoes in the office whenever she can and sometimes even walk around barefoot like to the break room. Its ok as long as her manager doesn't know :) She still lives the barefoot lifestyle outside of work. We agreed for her to take the car since she needed it more. My parents didn't want to buy me another car though, cuz I wasn't doing very well in college. They said I had become a wild child, and letting me have a car would only make things worse. So what were my options? I could take the bus to school but that would take alot longer and I would have to wake up earlier every morning. Or I could live in an apartment close to campus so I could just walk. The...

The Bunny, The Witch, and The Barefoot Angel

Image
by Tania WL One day my little sister Sharleen went on a field trip to a forest reserve here on the island. It was really beautiful, and the weather was perfect. It was a little cool and sort of misty up in the mountains. Sharleen really loves nature, so while her friends were taking a break and playing games, she decided to take a walk along the creek and see what interesting things she could find. She felt her feet were getting hot and sweaty, so she sat down, untied her shoes, and took 'em off. Since she wasn't wearing socks, she was immediately barefoot. Aahh...it felt fantastic! That was actually against the rule since she was at a school function and wearing her uniform, but she didn't give a f*ck. Her feet had to be free in such a wonderful place! She figured if she got caught, she would just apologize. No big thing. She didn't want to carry her shoes around either, so she just left them on the ground. She would put them back on when she returned. Or so sh...

Barefoot at School Again | in the Principal's Office

Image
Barefoot at school story by Sharleen W.L. Note from Tania: my little sister Sharleen wrote this story and asked me to post it here. She will also be writing the next few articles on this blog. Enjoy! I wish I had gone to one of the public schools that allow students to go barefoot to school. Actually, I almost transferred to one, but for a number of reasons we finally decided against it. So what's a barefoot girl to do? Well, try to go sans shoes at school as often as possible which I did, and this time I got to do it in the principal's office. This took place when I was in elementary school. 4th grade to be exact. One Saturday morning I went out shopping at the mall with my mom and little brother Kevin. As usual I was barefoot. Yeah, in the beginning mom didn't approve of me and my sister going barefoot in public places but she finally gave in and now she's ok with it. As we were walking around in the mall we ran into my school principal Mrs. Scott (not her...

Barefoot in the Library

Image
by Tania WL I'm a college student, and I go barefoot to school on most days. The only days I wear flip flops are when I have yoga class (which is on Tuesdays and Fridays) as we have to have clean feet. Yeah, my feet get pretty dirty by the end of the day from walking around campus. I love our college library as it's a great place to study and to rest. They have benches with soft cushions where you can lie down and relax or even sleep. I often take a power nap in between classes in the afternoon which is great cos when I wake up I feel really refreshed, especially when I've been burning the midnight oil. One day I was doing just that. I was lying down on one of the benches taking a nap with my dirty bare feet hanging over the edge for everyone who passed by to see. Some would be turned on, some would be disgusted, so what! lol. I woke up after about 20 minutes and sat up. There was a guy sitting at the table across the aisle looking at me. He quickly looked away as I ...

Going Barefoot at School

Image
Girl barefoot at school story Going barefoot to/at school is quite common in some countries like Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and India (see the picture at the bottom of the post). It was also quite prevalent in the US in the old days. A few elementary schools in Hawaii still allow their students to attend school in bare feet. Unfortunately however, most kids today are denied this wonderful experience. So can you blame them for cherishing every chance they've got to go barefoot at school even if only for a brief moment? My little sister Sharleen (nicknamed Lynn) and I went to a private elementary school with a rather strict dress code. We had to wear uniform everyday that included a tie and white closed shoes. White socks had to be worn at all times in the beginning. Being an avid barefooter, I always wanted to be barefoot as much as possible. So I would usually take off my tie along with my shoes and socks on the (city) bus, and walk barefoot home from the bus stop...
