Fun barefoot day around town

Image
barefoot staycation day 2 by sharleen wl it's monday morning, the second day of my barefoot staycation. rays of sunlight filters through my bedroom window and the birds are chirping outside. i stretch my arms and legs, feeling the cool breeze that comes in from the open window. ya, like many dwelling places in hawaii my apartment isn't air-conditioned. we don't need it that much cuz the trade wind blows almost constantly. occasionally it stops blowing and the air becomes sticky but that's only like a couple of weeks in a year. i look at my dirty soles and giggle as they're a sign of living a fun and free barefoot lifestyle. yesterday was quite enjoyable and today more exciting adventures await. but...there's something i need to do before i even start the day. last night i was too tired and this morning i feel a strong urge to do it. noo, i'm not talking about washing the dishes 🤣. hint - not wearing anything in bed really makes it easy 😉 ok no...

Barefoot staycation

Image
by sharleen wl i recently took a week's vacation. it was a staycation to be exact because well, i live in hawaii. people come here for vacation so why should i go anywhere else? lol. that meant it was going to be a full week being completely barefoot. as i previously mentioned, my current job as a cashier at a restaurant doesn't allow me to be barefoot at work. i can wear flip flops (or rubber slippers as they call them here) which is cool as i despise closed shoes but still, it ain't the same as being barefoot. if you've been following my blog for a while you know that i'm a rebellious barefoot girl who refuses to wear shoes no matter the weather or occasion. i just love the feeling of the earth beneath my feet and the freedom that comes with being shoeless. so a whole day spent in bare feet is always an adventure. it never gets old. i usually have sunday and monday off which i always look forward to and now i'll literally be barefoot 24/7. it'll be a magic...

Barefoot in Seattle

Image
by sharleen wl I had previously heard that Seattle was a barefoot friendly city, so I was excited when I had the chance to prove it for myself early last summer. My girlfriend Sandra and I were going a cruise to Alaska leaving from Seattle. As you know from one of my previous posts ( barefoot thanksgiving break ) I'm bi, and Sandra who was my childhood best friend, is lesbian. Anyway, we were planning to stay in Seattle for a day before the cruise, and we already booked a hotel. It was a quaint little waterfront hotel, and we were lucky to get an ocean view so that we could watch ships pass by. Sandra has relatives in Seattle whom she wanted to spend some time with, so she flew in a day earlier. After being denied boarding barefoot on my trip to Houston the year before ( barefoot thanksgiving break ), I didn't bother trying it this time. I just put on flip flops to board, and took them off again once I was on the plane. I deplaned in Seattle and walked around the airport ...

Barefoot Thanksgiving break

Image
by Sharleen (Lynn) WL Last year over Thanksgiving break I visited my best friend Sandra (who is also my girlfriend now) in Houston where she goes to school. Yeah, I'm bi and she's lesbian, so after I broke up with my last boyfriend, Sandra and I developed a romantic relationship. Its been great cuz we both have alot of things in common including the love of going barefoot. What kinda sucks is she had to move to Houston. Anyway, I flew to Houston a couple days before Thanksgiving. I was planning to do it entirely barefoot like I did when I was a kid (you can read the story here on the blog if you haven't already - its titled "Traveling Barefoot"), but unfortunately at the gate I was told to put shoes on. So I just wore my flip flops which I put in my backpack. The staff was nice about it though, he just looked at me and smiled. Once I got on the plane I took 'em off again. I walked out of the plane barefoot in Houston, and no one said anything. Sandra pic...

Barefoot Girl's Adventure (Traveling Barefoot Part 2)

Image
by Sharleen (Lynn) WL This is part 2 of Traveling Barefoot . If you haven't read part 1 yet, you can find the link at the bottom of this post. We landed bright and early (around 8 am) at the Houston Bush airport. I was a little sleepy but very excited about the vacation. We had plenty of time before boarding our connecting flight to Orlando, and as we were walking in the terminal we saw a nice restaurant and dad decided to go in for breakfast. But he said to me, "We'll see if they'll let you in barefoot. If not, we'll just go to the food court and grab some fast food." I just smiled knowing that they would let me in. Yes, I believe is magic :) We were seated and served without any problem. As I was eating my nose was running again, and I kept sniffling. Mom finally told me to blow it. I was going to use the cloth napkin but she scolded me saying it was improper (I had done this before but she just never noticed, lol), and told me to go to the bathroo...

Traveling Barefoot

Image
by Sharleen (Lynn) WL The following took place a few years ago. It was early summer and we just celebrated my 10th birthday, but mom and dad still had a big surprise for me. They were going to take me to Disney World as a birthday present! Not the whole family was going, though. Tania was off to summer camp, and our oldest brother and sister had other plans. So it was going to be dad, mom, my little brother Kevin, and me. Traveling barefoot Needless to say, I was really excited and so was Kevin as he would get to spend an entire week with his favorite sister*. I had been a barefooter for almost a year, and had previously traveled completely barefoot**. But that was within Hawaii. This time it was a little different as we were going to the mainland (that's what we Hawaiians call the Continental US) which is not quite as barefoot friendly as Hawaii. So I asked dad if I could travel barefoot again this time. He said I could probably fly barefoot but I should bring footwa...
