You Can Go Barefoot!

If you have read the story titled "Barefoot Sisters" you would know that in the beginning mom was so opposed to her kids going barefoot in public places, but she later gave in and allowed Tania and me to do so. The following took place in my early days of barefooting in public when I was in elementary school. I was the only barefooter in the grocery store that night It was 9:30pm on a Wednesday when dad was away on business. My oldest brother and sisters were still busy doing homework and studying, and my little brother was already in bed. I just got done with all my homework. I had karate class earlier in the evening, and so I took a shower when I got home. Btw, I got punished in class with doing lots of push-ups (I was joking around with another kid and wasn't paying attention to the instructor), so now I was a bit tired and sleepy. Going barefoot outdoors

the following is a post from someone in the UK...

"I didn't know that so many people went bare foot outdoors (except at the beach). Now I've dicovered all these like minded people, I want to try it in public for the first time. How do I start without too much pain? I want black soles what surfaces are best? Please relpy and help me."

that's interesting. i thought in the UK quite a few people went barefoot in public, at least that's what i heard from a few members of the SBL (society for barefoot living), and they don't usually encounter much opposition like we do in the US. but it could be regional too. i mean there could be more barefooters in certain areas of the country. can some of you from the uk comment on this?

anyway, getting back to his questions... how do you start without too much pain? well, i would suggest starting out slow, like maybe you can walk barefoot in your front or back yard where there's grass so it's soft on your soles. besides, walking barefoot on grass is one of the most wonderful sensations :) then you can probably walk barefoot on smooth surfaces outdoors, and avoid gravels and stuff like that until your soles get tougher.

walking around barefoot inside the grocery store is really nice 'cos it's cool and the floor is smooth and oh yeah... your soles get really black too since most grocery stores have dirty floors, he he! walking barefoot in the parking lot or parking garage can also get your feet really dirty.

    I absolutly love to go barefoot. When I was a kid I remember watching The Flintstones and how nobody on there ever wore shoes.I wish shoes were never invented. I would love to spend the rest of my life barefoot.There's nothing any more relaxing than going barefoot.

    I absolutely love to go barefoot,exspecially outside. There's nothing more enjoyable than going barefoot outside on a summer day. I've gone barefoot my whole life so hot pavement is no big deal to me.I have been barefoot for 4 straight days now and don't plan on putting on shoes any time soon.I love to go barefoot on bare spots in my yard,Georgia red clay gets your feet really dirty

    This girl was barefoot in my class and now she's my girlfriend. She twisted her ankle so I saw an opportunity to get here to walk barefoot (or hop rather?) as she was in stilettos

Barefoot weekend and Christmas shopping with Lynn

But this past weekend was extra special: I wasn't doing it alone. I got to spend the entire weekend and go Christmas shopping barefoot with my little sister Sharleen (a.k.a. Lynn). Hi everyone, this is Tania, Lynn's big sister. I used to post on this blog back in the day, but since I started working I got pretty busy and decided to let Lynn take over. But she said I should write this post for old time's sake. So here I am. Unfortunately, I have to wear shoes to work. But in my office I usually take them off. a barefoot girl's story going shopping with her strict religious mom by sharleen wl this is a rather long post but a pretty fun story. so i want you to get comfortable. get your favorite drink, maybe play some soft music, be barefooted (if you aren't already), take off all your clo... oops,  i'm getting carried away. i mean, you don't have to do that. unless your like me of course, lol. anyway, relax and enjoy! my dad is away on a business trip and my mom is home alone. so yesterday she called me and asked if i would wanna go shopping at the mall with her today (saturday). i love shopping so i said sure. she knows that i'm a barefooter and has kinda accepted the fact, so going barefoot to the mall with her shouldn't be an issue. i wake up a little earlier this morning cuz i wanna eat breakfast before going shopping. need the extra energy. the temperature this morning is 61 F which is cold for hawaii. i slept with my windows closed but i still feel a little cold...

Going Barefoot at School

Girl barefoot at school story Going barefoot to/at school is quite common in some countries like Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and India (see the picture at the bottom of the post). It was also quite prevalent in the US in the old days. A few elementary schools in Hawaii still allow their students to attend school in bare feet. Unfortunately however, most kids today are denied this wonderful experience. So can you blame them for cherishing every chance they've got to go barefoot at school even if only for a brief moment? My little sister Sharleen (nicknamed Lynn) and I went to a private elementary school with a rather strict dress code. We had to wear uniform everyday that included a tie and white closed shoes. White socks had to be worn at all times in the beginning. Being an avid barefooter, I always wanted to be barefoot as much as possible. Another day in the life of a barefoot college student - 4 years later

Another barefoot girl college student story by sharleen wl It was 4 years ago that I wrote "A day in the life of a barefoot college student" so you may be wondering why I'm still in school. Did I continue on to graduate school? Nope. I should've graduated at the end of last spring, but I have to retake a few courses and do some extra work before I can graduate. People tell me I'm too much of a free spirit, a wild child. I really love life, and I guess I've been enjoying it a little too much, and now I'm paying the price. Needless to say my parents aren't happy and they have been giving me shit about it. But hey, at least I didn't quit or flunk out (yet), right? As I wrote in my previous posts, I moved out of my parents' house at the beginning of my sophomore year. I'm living in a small apartment within walking distance from the college campus, and I work a part time job. One thing I cherish is that I'm barefoot 24/7 pretty much....
